TAMAN Muda residents want Ampang Jaya Municipal Council (MPAJ) to review the parking system in the Taman Muda commercial area because of the lack of parking bays available.
The number of motorists in the area which boasts several banks and the Taman Muda morning market has increased, resulting in traffic congestion.
Damaged or missing public phones are also becoming an eyesore.
Resident Chay Kok Leong, 52, said some of motorcyclists would park their motorcyles haphazardly.
Au Kin Wah, 67, urged MPAJ to look into the problems affecting the area such as lack of parking space and vandalism.
“The roads are riddled with potholes and there is uncollected rubbish,” he said.
Pandan MCA chief Datuk Leong Kok Wee said the vandalised public phone booths should be removed.
“If the phone companies in charge are not committed in maintaining them, they should just remove them so more parking bays can be allocated,” he said.
Leong added that it was high time the council reviewed the parking system as the existing bays can no longer cope with the daily traffic here in Taman Muda.
