MALAYSIA’S first fully-online platform is set to transform the country’s trading and brokerage scene.
Bringing the success of Japan’s most downloaded trading application, Rakuten’s mobile application named iSPEED.my and its trading website offer clients greater convenience.
Rakuten Trade Sdn Bhd managing director Kaoru Arai said it gives retail investors more control over their money.
“Unlike conventional methods where one has to physically be there to open a central depository system (CDS) account, you can now do it online.
“Instead of remisiers and agents recommending trading options and performing transactions, through this platform, investors can do it with just a click on their phone,” he said during an interview at Kenanga Tower, Jalan Tun Razak, Kuala Lumpur.
Arai will be introducing Rakuten Trade at the StarLIVE session Investing in Small Mid-Caps: Unearthing the Jewels on Aug 19.
It will be held from 10am to noon at Menara Star, Petaling Jaya.
Other speakers include Ahmad Zaki Resources Bhd group managing director Datuk Seri Wan Zakariah Muda, KUB Malaysia Bhd president and group managing director Datuk Abdul Rahim Mohd Zin as well as Rakuten Trade Sdn Bhd research head Kenny Yee and research vice-president Vincent Lau.
A joint venture between Kenanga Investment Bank Bhd and Rakuten Securities Inc, the online trading platform links directly to Bursa Malaysia.
Arai said about 1,500 accounts have been opened since it was launched two months ago.
“One of the advantages of this platform is its client-centric focus.
“Rakuten has teamed up with Kenanga to provide detailed and in-depth research to our clients,” he added.
The newly-launched online trading platform has also put in place various security measures to ensure only the relevant authorised personnel are able to access any information.
It has also teamed up with AirAsia Big, BInfinite by Berjaya Group and BonusLink.
