ISKANDAR PUTERI: Iskandar Investment Berhad (IIB) has launched its co-working space to help the growth of new companies and local small and medium enterprises.

Iskandar Space combines the best elements of community building and co-working space in a 8,000 sq ft area.

IIB chief operating officer Akmal Ahmad said the new space was perfect for local entrepreneurs, especially start-ups, to start their businesses as it would provide workplace solutions in a fully equipped area with the availability of private suites.

“With very attractive rates, co-workers can enjoy the comforts of an instant work space with premium facilities that include indoor and outdoor chill out spots, in-house cafes as well as high-speed and secured WiFi connections,” he said.

Akmal said Iskandar Space was part of Khazanah Berhad’s place-making exercise to establish the district as the preferred destination for sports, education, lifestyle, investments and careers.

“Beyond its facilities, the space offers and encourages co-workers to adopt a culture of transfer of knowledge,” he said.

He added that the Iskandar Space had been working closely with Cradle Fund Sdn Bhd, an early stage start-up influencer, incorporated under the Finance Ministry to provide Government grants, equity investments and funding to qualify start-ups.

“The companies will enjoy non-monetary aid such as commercialisation support, coaching and other value-added services to cater to all,” he said. He added that the space would also host various educational events, mentoring sessions, business partnerships and investment linkages for the community on a regular basis.

He said Iskandar Space was also working with several agencies at the federal and state level to support an ecosystem for local entrepreneurs in Iskandar Malaysia, as well as forming strategic partnerships with ecosystem partners in the form of corporations, non-governmental organisations and foreign entities.

“The development and growth of these businesses is targeted to bring in more talents and economic activities into Iskandar Puteri on a macro level,” he said.
