Golden Screen Cinemas Sdn Bhd (GSC) is celebrating National Day with the opening of its 10-screen cinema at Melawati Mall in Kuala Lumpur.
The launch of the new multiplex featured the colours of Jalur Gemilang, complete with flag-themed popcorn boxes, TV screen displays as well as ticket stubs.
Adding hype to the occasion, actor and filmmaker Datuk Yusof Haslam and several cast members of local blockbuster Abang Long Fadil 2 such as Wak Doyok and A. Galak attended the event.
As part of the launch, guests also autographed a graffiti wall and were the first to purchase tickets from the GSC e-Kiosk.
“It is equipped with 10 digital screens and a total of 1,424 seats.
“Today’s moviegoers expect an immersive cinematic experience, and that is what they will find here at GSC Melawati Mall,” she said.
Besides the signature popcorn, Koh said the cinema features state-of-the-art technologies such as Dolby Atmos, which delivers impressive surround sound to enhance audio experience, as well as the DBox motion system that synchronises the movement of the seats with the images and sounds of a movie.
Koh also said a total of RM15.5mil was invested by GSC and Sime Darby CapitaLand Management to build the multiplex.
Besides Abang Long Fadil 2, moviegoers can look forward to an exciting line-up of movies including American Made, which stars Tom Cruise; the remake of Stephen King’s IT; Kingsman: The Golden Circle and The Lego Ninjago Movie.
The cinema has also lined up promotions for its customers, including a Grab Car tie-up for discounted rides to and from Melawati Mall, movie poster and balloon giveaways, popcorn and candy floss sampling, as well as photo opportunities with superhero movie characters.
