THE Construction Industry Development Board (CIDB) Construction Media Awards 2017 handed out a total of RM90,000 in cash prizes to the top three winners this year in three categories. The competition was opened to media from Peninsular Malaysia, Sabah and Sarawak.
A total of 144 entries were received from the media in the Peninsular, contesting the three categories – the Print Media, Electronic Media and Online Broadcasting and Photography.
StarMetro reporter Shalini Ravindran and The Star photographer Puspanathan Periannan won third prize in the print media and photography categories respectively.
Works Minister Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof who presented the awards to the winners, thanked all pressmen and acknowledged the media’s contribution to the Works Ministry and the construction industry.
Pressmen who attended the event had many opportunities to walk away with prizes by taking part in contests.
Cash prizes were handed out to those who won in the Media Idol karaoke contest and the Best Dressed competition, for which the theme was “Arabian.”
Many others walked away with a variety of household appliances in the lucky draw. A few took home top prizes such as bicycles, refrigerators, rice cookers, television sets and smartphones.
