KUALA LUMPUR: Mah Sing group managing director Tan Sri Leong Hoy Kum was named Entrepreneur of the Year at the Asean Business Awards Malaysia 2016 for his outstanding contributions in growing the company into a dynamic industry player.
The awards, organised by the Asean Business Advisory Council (Asean-BAC), recognises industry leaders in delivering sustainable values to their companies and their countries at large.
Leong was given the award in recognition of his role as an industry captain who had made significant and outstanding contributions in growing Mah Sing Group Berhad into a dynamic player in the industry.
It was presented by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak, and witnessed by Minister of International Trade and Industry Datuk Seri Mustapa Mohamed.
“He founded the plastic manufacturing division of Mah Sing in 1986 and rapidly grew the business with products for the automotive and electrical industries.
“He ventured into the property industry in 1994, with Mah Sing’s maiden project in Ulu Yam, and to date, Mah Sing has 46 projects spread throughout Malaysia’s property hotspots,” a Mah Sing Group statement said.
Mah Sing has an additional 35 projects currently being developed, and is poised to support more affordable housing projects with 89% of its planned residential launches priced under RM1mil, 68% below RM700,000 and 50% below RM500,000.
“These include Cerrado serviced apartments in Southville @ KL South, new blocks in D’sara Sentral, Sungai Buloh, Lakeville Residence in Taman Wahyu, Meridin East township in Pasir Gudang, Johor Bahru, as well as Ferringhi Residence 2 in Penang.
“Mah Sing’s affordable housing projects include Rumah Selangorku at M Residence 2@Rawang, featuring 488 units priced at RM170,000,” said the statement.
