PETALING JAYA: Staying true to its image as a consumers’ bank, Maybank launches another housing loan scheme to provide home-buyers greater flexibility and affordability to own a house at Malaysia Property Expo (Mapex) 2018 recently.

MaxiHome Ezy scheme is a new mortgage scheme, allowing customers to service only the interest or profit portion of their mortgage for the first five years, with full instalments commencing from the sixth year onwards.

“We came up with the scheme after listening to what the public has been asking for.

"We try to cater to their needs and provide better loan financing,” said Maybank Islamic Bhd chief executive officer Datuk Mohamed Rafique Merican during the press conference.

He said that the scheme not only uses the standard debt service ratio (DSR) to calculate the eligibility of the applicant, it also takes into account the propensity of one’s income to grow over the years.

During the opening speech, Rehda president Datuk Seri FD Iskandar applauds Maybank’s efforts in providing innovative solutions to the financing issue faced by consumers.

“It has been noted that since October 2015, buyers have been facing problems in obtaining end financing to buy a house.

"With the release of MaxiHome Ezy scheme, as well as the recently launched HouzKey scheme, hopefully, more buyers especially the younger generations can start to own their own home,” said Iskandar.

Mapex 2018 which runs from 27-29 April houses 40 developers, both from the private as well as the government agencies at Mid Valley exhibition centres (MVEC) from 10AM-9PM.

With the hashtag #ahomeforbettertomorrow, Mapex aims to encourage the younger generation to own their first property besides providing the one-stop centre for the public to look for houses.

For this year, Rehda is offering RM2,000 of cash rebate to the first 15 homebuyers in the expo.
