KUALA LUMPUR: Mah Sing Group Bhd (Mah Sing) has once again been awarded as one of Malaysia's top 10 developers with the prestigious Top-Of-The-Chart Awards (for Market Cap RM1bil and above) at the Malaysia Developer Awards (MDA) 2023. This achievement marks the second consecutive year that the group has received this accolade, reaffirming its role as a prominent nation-builder.

The MDA 2023, organised by Star Media Group in partnership with FIABCI Malaysia, for the second year continues to serve as a standard-bearer by providing a platform for local property developers to enhance and fortify Malaysia’s property industry. The evaluation process encompasses a thorough assessment of both quantitative and qualitative aspects of the industry players’ contributions.

Mah Sing group strategy and operations director Jane Leong received the award from Deputy Local Government Development Minister Akmal Nasrullah Mohd Nasir, witnessed by by Star Media Group (SMG) CEO Alex Yeow and FIABCI-Malaysia president Datuk Firdaus Musa. Mah Sing’s senior management team was also present during the award presentation to celebrate this remarkable milestone.

Mah Sing founder and group managing director Tan Sri Leong Hoy Kum said: “Being recognised as one of the top developers in Malaysia for two years in a row is truly an honour. This serves as a testament to the trust, confidence and recognition placed on Mah Sing as a responsible nation-builder. The group’s solid position in the affordable segment, along with our distinct product line, the M Series, recognised as Luxury You Can Afford, aligns well with the market’s demand for strategic locations, excellent accessibility, connectivity, and proximity to established amenities.

“This is further proven by the recent launch of M Nova’s Tower A in Kepong, which achieved an impressive take-up rate of 90% in just one weekend. We will continue to focus on developing our M Series hence, we are actively seeking to replenish our landbanks in Klang Valley, Penang and Johor to develop residential and industrial properties.”

Mah Sing’s proactive approach to scouting land banks in Klang Valley, Johor and Penang has paved the way for the development of its affordable M Series. In 2023, Mah Sing successfully acquired four (parcels of) land, M Terra and M Hana in Puchong (8.2 acres), M Tiara in Johor Bahru (75.7 acres), Glengowrie Estate in Semenyih (500 acres), and M Zenya in Kepong (4.88 acres) strengthening the group’s landbank by approximately RM5bil gross development value.

“Mah Sing prioritises sustainable development, supported by our exemplary corporate governance practices and strong ESG performance. Since becoming part of the FTSE4Good Bursa Malaysia Index in June 2021, we continue to enhance our ESG performance every year. In December 2022 ratings released by FTSE Russell, we clinched a score of 3.6 out of 5.0, positioning us among the top 25% of companies on the Index.

“We have also embarked on Task Force on Climate-Related Financial Disclosures (TCFD) reporting framework and became an early adopter of Bursa Malaysia Berhad’s Centralised Sustainability Intelligence (CSI) platform. We are taking a proactive role in encouraging our suppliers to embrace ESG practices and climate disclosures into their business operations,” Jane stated.

The group continues to enhance customer experience and operational efficiencies through digitalisation by leveraging on technologies such as customer relationship management software and a cloud-based defect management system.

“We have consistently demonstrated our ability to swiftly adapt and respond to changing market dynamics and customer demands. We recognise the importance of technology across all aspects of our business, from enhancing customer experience to digitising and streamlining the process of inspections, defect submissions and rectification. We will continue to push boundaries to deliver quality products and superior experience for our customers,” she added.
