A SCENIC view greets residents and visitors as they drive along Persiaran Anggerik Mokara in Kota Kemuning, Shah Alam.
However, the view is ruined by broken and missing concrete drain covers along the road divider and around the second roundabout.
Along a stretch of road between the first and second roundabouts, a portion of the road has collapsed and damaged the concrete drain covers there.

Kota Kemuning Residents Association (PPKK) treasurer Pauline Koo said she noticed the broken concrete slabs a few weeks ago.
“I complained to Shah Alam City Council (MBSA) about the damaged drain covers but the council only replaced the drain covers at the places I had pointed out.
“I have been trying to snap pictures of the damage but it is difficult because people drive at high speed on that road,” she said, adding that MBSA should carry out regular checks and replace broken and missing drain covers as soon as possible.

Kota Kemuning Residents Representative Committee chairman Jackie Chew said the concrete drain covers along the road dividers had been broken for some time.
Chew, who is also Kota Raja Wanita MCA chief, said MBSA should fix them immediately.
“If left unattended, the road might erode further and the broken pieces of concrete were hazardous and could be dangerous to motorists, especially at night,” she said.
Broken drain covers were also seen at the playground in Jalan Anggerik Doritis 31/161 and outside SJK(C) Chung Hwa.

When contacted, MBSA said the city council would look into the matter.
The sidewalks and road dividers along Persiaran Anggerik Mokara were also cluttered with broken tree branches and a fallen tree, after a recent downpour.
PPKK secretary Vivien Khoo had asked MBSA to trim the overgrown trees but was told that it would only be carried out in selected areas within Kota Kemuning.
She said there were instances where trees had fallen in front of houses and branches falling into the compounds.
“Imagine if a person is driving fast at night and there are fallen trees on the road. It can cause accidents.
Heaps of rubbish at the commercial area in Persiaran Anggerik Vanilla as a result of indiscriminate dumping.
“These are urgent matters and action must be taken immediately,” Khoo said.
Separately, there were heaps of uncollected rubbish at the commercial area in Persiaran Anggerik Vanilla.
While rubbish is scheduled for collection on alternate days, many shop operators leave rubbish in front of their shops and in the alleys instead of in the proper bins, resulting in the eyesore.
Khoo said MBSA issued summonses to the shop operators who threw rubbish irresponsibly but there was no proper follow-up to address the issue.
