KUALA LUMPUR: Since its grand launch in June 2023, KL Wellness City (KLWC) has been making significant strides, reshaping the landscape of integrated healthcare and wellness. The visionary city, anchored by the flagship KL International Hospital (KLIH) and The Nobel Healthcare Park, is set to champion high-speed broadband connectivity. This infrastructure will support advanced Internet of Things (IoT) technology in healthcare and wellness, addressing the critical need for connectivity for medical travellers.

KL Wellness City managing director Datuk Dr Colin Lee, said:“In achieving our vision of a modern  healthcare and wellness hub in Southeast Asia and Malaysia’s position as top medical tourism  destination in the world, we need to build a comprehensive ecosystem that is future-proof, and anchor  our development with innovative and advance technology infrastructure.

“With KLWC being IoT-ready by design, our commitments to connectivity will facilitate patient-centric experience for both local and  international healthcare tourists and this is also aligned with the Ministry of Health’s vision of a  digitally transformed healthcare system.”

Malaysia's Healthcare tourism revenue is expected to hit RM1.7bil this year and grow double-digit every year after to cap RM5bil by 2030. KLWC recognises this and aims to  contribute to the growth of health and wellness tourism. Leveraging its state-of-the-art facilities,  advanced technology infrastructure and a patient-centric approach, KL Wellness City aspires to  become a prominent player in the global health and wellness tourism landscape.

Embracing digital health principles, KLWC aims to optimize healthcare workflows, eliminate delays, enhance data availability, and elevate the quality of care and overall patient experience. The thirteen-storey Kuala Lumpur International Hospital (KLIH) is committed to fostering a sustainable hospital environment, showcasing KLWC's dedication to leading technological advancements and promoting environmental responsibility.

As of now, both KLIH and The Nobel Healthcare Park (Plot 1) have successfully completed their earthwork, piling, and substructure works, achieving a remarkable 100% completion rate. The superstructure works for KLIH are scheduled to commence by the second quarter of 2024.
