A ROUNDABOUT on Jalan Taman Tasik Prima in Puchong Utama, Puchong has been the site for numerous near misses and severe congestion in Taman Perindustrian Puchong.

The problem started two years ago, when its initial exit on Jalan Utama 2/1 was sealed off to make way for the roundabout.

The exit was moved about 200 metres away but is now on a slightly elevated ground causing it to be a steep slope.

As a result, many accidents have taken place here.

“This exit is right in front of my shop and during peak hours, there are trailers and heavy vehicles trying to turn into Jalan Utama 2/1.

“The large vehicles also block the road, causing a traffic jam and sometimes accidents because drivers cannot see smaller vehicles.

“There is also a flyover coming down to Jalan Taman Tasik Prima and that is why many cars come really fast on this lane and towards the roundabout.

“In the past two years, I have seen so many accidents because of this,” said shopkeeper Lu Guey Seng.

Puchong MCA division secretary Liew Yew Fook said the Subang Jaya Municipal Council (MPSJ) needs to review the roundabout's design.

“The council needs to consider moving the exit to its original position at the end of the road.

“On the left side of the roundabout’s second exit, there is a stall and sometimes when cars and other heavy vehicles are speeding or trying to avoid one another, they might swerve into the stall.

“This poor design is dangerous for all parties and I hope MPSJ will look into alternatives soon,” he said.
