KUALA LUMPUR: IJM Corporation Bhd says it’s the first public listed company in Malaysia to embrace Facebook at Work. The enterprise version of the social media service will be used by about 4,600 employees across 10 offices spanning Asia, Middle East and Europe.
IJM chief executive officer and managing director Datuk Soam Heng Choon said that Facebook at Work is simple, secure and easy-to-use, with features that are focused on improving team collaboration, productivity and efficiency which is in line with the company’s goal of enhancing the 3Cs – Connect, Communicate and Collaborate.
Employees not only will be able to use the service on their desktop computer but also on their phones and tablets to keep track of their work and improve knowledge transfer, he said.
“IJM has a big vision to enhance company operating culture to be even more effective and collaborative. In order to achieve this, there are many areas we need to improve – one of it is the IT platform.”
“We have found Facebook at Work fits into our requirement very well as it has the potential to bring people around the world closer,” said Soam.
“It is very easy to pick up because many people are already using it daily in their personal lives and is completely separate from the consumer version of the Facebook service.”
The company began piloting the service among a small group in January 2016 and received very positive feedback from the early adopters, it said.
The employees were able to work more efficiently, get faster feedback and response, and update colleagues on work in a much more engaging way, said Soam.
The announcement also marks the first time an enterprise collaboration platform has been adopted by the group.
