When is the beginning of Chinese new year?
There is a never-ending debate on when is the right date of the Chinese new year. Some say that it is the first day of the first lunar month, but some say it is the arrival of spring (立春). On the other hand, those who are born in January are confused with their animal sign too.
Circa four thousand years ago, during Shun(舜) dynasty, King Shun(舜王) decided to make the first day of the first lunar month to be the official Chinese new year. Before his time, Chinese new year was celebrated randomly.
The arrival of spring is an indication that the weather will be getting warmer. All the living creatures will start being active after the cold winter, and it is considered a good time for farmers to go to the field to work.
Based on the two scenarios above, Chinese new year should rightfully be celebrated on the first day of the first lunar month, and the animal zodiac should follow this principle too.
New year, new resolution
According to the Chinese new year tradition, the celebration starts from the first day to the 15th day of the first lunar month. During the celebration, ‘ang pow’, food, firecrackers and other receivings depicting God of Prosperity are very important.
Traditionally, it used to be a simple ritual with minimum food such as fruits, chicken, joss sticks and candles. As time went by, the rituals became very complicated with elaborate prayer items. Nowadays, people pray with plastic oranges, plastic apples and electric candles. The genuine intention of the celebration has been lost.
These practices serve as an opportunity to set the intention right for the rest of the year. Once you understand the meaning of these practices, you can make your resolution by total submission instead of offerings to whoever you have faith in on Feb 26 from 5.30pm – 7.30pm by facing the north. After that, please look out for 50% of the phenomena below within the next 24 hours. The phenomena can be seen from TV, printing materials, internet and any source.
Phenomena to look out for
- People with eye sickness
- Bird(s) flying from the north
- Bell and drum sound at the north sector
- Dog coming to the house or office
- Little boy clapping and laughing at yellow dog
- Little girl playing in the park, garden or backyard
- Bicycle/motorcycle in the west sector
- A flock of birds flying and chirping
Are those born in the Dog Year going to have an unlucky year in 2018?
The animal zodiac of 2018 is the dog. Generally speaking, it is not a good year for those who were born in the year of Dog because they are against the Governing Planet (太岁). They will get sick regularly, getting driving compounds, being snatched and many other petty problems. However, not all those who were born in the year of Dog will be having an unlucky year.
Those who were born in the year 1970 will be having an excellent year with incredible career advancement, plenty of monetary rewards, besides a lot of helping hands and opportunities. The only thing to watch out for is a serious health issue during the fourth lunar month.
Those born in the year of 1958 and 1982 will be having a smooth sailing year, but those who were born in 1994 will have to be extra careful while moving around to avoid accidents.
Generically, the dragon, which is the animal zodiac that is located opposite the dog is not ideal. It is called 3-Killers (三杀). It comes in a group of three, namely dragon, rat and monkey. The rat has the most severe effect. However, not all those who were born in the rat year will go through an unlucky year.
Those born in 1972 will be having a lucky year while for those born in 1984, it will be very quiet until the last two months of the year where career and finances will start showing positive signs.
Colours play an important role to cultivate positive things. The element of 2018 is wood which is the green colour. Wood produces fire which is red colour and water which is blue produces wood. The best colour to use in 2018 is red, followed by green and blue.
You may apply these lucky colours for your clothing, bags, phone accessories, socks and others. If you would like your friends and family to have a lucky year, you should buy them decorative items or small gifts of these lucky colours.
For those born during summer, it is wise to avoid using red, and for those born during winter, it is wise to avoid blue.
In terms of employability, you should choose to join wood, fire and water-related industries because these industries are expected to perform extraordinarily well in 2018.
Wood related industries are media, education, print, corporate management, architecture, property development, health care, animal husbandry and children related businesses, among others.
Fire-related industries are oil and gas, telecommunication, digital, electrical, electronic, chemical, arms and ammunition, and IT, to name a few.
Water-related industries are finance, banking, insurance, shipping, share trading, spa, and gym, among others.
For investors, you should keep a lookout for these industries to maximise your return in 2018.
For positive results to materialise, you need to make the right changes at the right time and right place with the right words and right people.
