New categories added to StarProperty.my Awards 2017 to honour expanding and evolving developments
Since its creation, the StarProperty.my Awards have recognised deserving developments and endeavoured to inspire developers to build future properties that meet the demands of nation-building.
This year, eight new categories were added, making it a total of 18 categories.
The new categories are for: The Poseidon, The Business Estate, The Skyline, The small is BIG, The Neighbourhood, The Southern Star, The Northern Star and The Readers’ and Voters’ Choice.
The new awards were introduced because of the different types of development that have hatched within the property industry, and in order to recognise the ever-expanding, evolving and integrative nature of developments in Malaysia.
The Wow Award
Developers producing iconic, inspirational and out-of-the-box establishments were presented with this award. Some of the qualities that the awarded property may hold include the ability to mirror elegance and distinctiveness in the theme that is painted across an individual development. In addition, these developments hold the ability to broaden or jog one's imagination.
The Skyline Award
This prestigious award is given to developers that painstakingly transform and shape the skyline of Malaysia by introducing high-rise masterpieces. Aside from providing an excellent bird's-eye view from above, these towering properties also exhibit enhancements in terms of facilities, ambience, security as well as uniqueness in incorporating state-of-the-art design and innovation.
The Family-Friendly Award
This key award is based on accrediting developers that create the perfect environment for families of all sizes to securely blossom, aside from providing sufficient space for growing families to enjoy personal comfort while living together harmoniously.
The Neighbourhood Award
Boutique in nature, these townships measure just under 500 acres. They offer a seamless lifestyle experience within and outside the property. At its core, all applicants must adhere to the best integration of five core elements, which are connectivity, amenities, education, health and security.
The Five Elements Award
This award goes to mammoth townships that are developed over a longer span of time, continually expanding and improving as the years go by. Applicant townships must be larger than 500 acres and must hold all elements such as connectivity, amenities, education, health and security. The goal is to highlight larger townships that successfully provide a wholesome living environment to its residents.
The Poseidon Award
Water is at the essence of this unique award. Regardless of being placed by a river, lake or even the sea, a water feature fascia is a must and used as a main feature. Properties that have an aesthetically appealing outlook and centre around water bodies will be up for this award.
The Earth Conscious Award
Sustainability is the heartbeat of this development, showcasing greening efforts and acknowledging the honorable efforts of maintaining natural surroundings in the hearts of residences. Some of the characteristics include the application of environment-friendly elements in planning, design and construction processes.
The Niche & Unique Award
Relatively small in size, these developments paint the shades of unique and stylish themes. These boutique, one-of-a-kind developments cater to a niche group of clientele and hold desirable qualities such as a modern lifestyle experience and lush landscaping. Its size is not larger than five acres.
The Just-Walk Award
These developments remain poised as the most popular trend currently practised by developers in creating Transit Oriented Developments (TOD) which epitomizes the “Work, Live and Learn” concept by merging residential, commercial and office elements. Simple in nature, these developments hold a choice of amenities within walking distance, resulting in a more sustainable and livable environment that would help reduce the carbon footprint.
The Starter Home Award
Many first-time homebuyers are concerned about the availability of affordable residences. Their problem could be solved by the winners of this category. All developments vying for this title must be priced below half a million ringgit, without skimping on quality, aesthetics and good connectivity.
The Best Touch & Feel Award
Properties that come under this category must look great yet offer comfort. This award is for those establishments that incorporatie construction materials of exceptional quality with beautiful aesthetics and functional designs.
The Cornerstone Award
This award is given to landed dream-home property developers in Malaysia. These properties must reflect diverse amenities, furnishings and fittings that satisfy what buyers are hunting for. In addition, it is important that these developments offer a range of connectivity and accessibility options, aside from enjoying a good location.
The Small is BIG Award
Efficiency pulsates through the veins of properties under this category. The compact modern properties that offer ease of living yet an elegant lifestyle would stand a chance to grab this award. All participants should hold key amenities, built-in technological infrastructure and must be sized at a maximum of 800 sq ft.
The Business Estate Award
Industrial developments are highlighted within the net of this award. Judges will look out for developers that produce excellent industrial properties which hold a host of diverse amenities, furnishings and fittings. The use of space, design, layout, security and infrastructure are some of the key aspects that judges will focus on to decide the winners of this category. Ultimately, the developments that fall under this category should be able to carve the pathway of the nation’s economy and provide a conducive environment for business.
The Northern Star Award
This award is aimed at the best in property developments from the north of Malaysia, which include the states of Perak, Penang, Kedah and Perlis. These developments should have a lasting impression on buyers. Those who frequent these establishments seek elegance. This should exist within the developments’ planning, design and construction processes. In addition, these developments should hold the elements of accessibility, unique designs, amenities and facilities that contribute to a safe and secure living environment.
The Southern Star Award
This award holds the same values as the Northern Star Award but is extended to developers that build establishments in the states of Malacca and Johor. These developments shape the property scene of southern Malaysia and must provide convenience, modernity, as well as unmatched connectivity.
Special Mention: National Contribution
For the first time, a special category is introduced to honour developers for contributions that have the national interest at heart. The completed projects must contain sustainable infrastructure to meet community needs and spur economic growth that is vital for nation-building.
