CHERAS: Sunway Velocity Mall today saw the grand opening of Grand Imperial Restaurant's eighth outlet, marking a second collaboration of Sunway Group and the restaurant chain since 2014.
The grand opening was officiated by Grand Imperial Group director Lai Ying Meng.
Also present was Sunway Shopping Malls & Theme Parks chief executive officer H.C. Chan, who said the mall has achieved 97% tenant signed rate thus far.
He said the mall is expected to hit a full tenant occupancy rate by the end of this year.
According to Chan, Sunway Velocity Mall, which was built to target the Cheras population, has been successful in its endeavor to attract shoppers.
"Usually, people go to the all two or three times a month, but here we have quite a number of them who come two three times a week," he said.
He added that there is also a plan to launch approximately 2,000 residential units at the newly acquired land nearby, which is temporarily dubbed SV2.
Located at the fifth floor of the mall and encompassing an area of 20,000 sq ft, Grand Imperial offers 10VIP rooms, a restaurant area for ala carte dining and a spacious ballroom that could accommodate up to 800 pax.
Founded in 2008 by chef Rang Cheung, Grand Imperial Group is a restaurant chain that offers Asian-Western fusion cuisine of high quality. The group has first collaborated with Sunway Group in 2014 by opening the seventh outlet at Sunway Pinnacle.
The other Grand Imperial restaurants are located at Bangsar, Hartanah, USJ19, One Utama, Casa Klang and London.
