IN less than two months’ time, the Pangsapuri Century apartment block 38 in Batu Uban, Penang, will sport a fresh coat of paint.
Work at the nine-storey block comprising 143 residential units and 13 commercial units in Jalan Pantai Jerjak Satu started on March 1 and is scheduled to complete on April 30.
Residents certainly have reasons to rejoice as they only paid RM30,000 or 19.5% of the total cost amounting to RM153,600.
Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng said the repainting work had been offered to Intrusa Global Enterprise through an open tender.
Also present were Deputy Chief Minister I Datuk Mohd Rashid Hasnon, Bayan Baru MP Sim Tze Tzin, the apartment management corporation chairman K. Shanker and other residents.
Sim said after the facelift, the block could become one of the more beautiful high-rises in the state.
“The residents here had always wanted a new coat of paint for the exterior which looked a bit run-down from afar,” he said.
Shanker said they were grateful to the statement government and the elected representatives for coming to their aid.
