PETALING JAYA: DP Architects Sdn Bhd launched their inaugural international exhibition, “A Common Line | One Global Studio,” showcasing 50 years of the firm’s architectural explorations and rich history with highlights on its Malaysian projects at Pertubuhan Akitek Malaysia’s (PAM) centre in Bangsar recently.
The exhibition unveiled DP Architect’s portfolio in the context of its architectural history and significant development of urban landscapes around the world. Through the featured projects, the exhibition will trace the firm’s design philosophy and purpose – to enhance a city’s quality of life through excellent architecture.
It also aims to highlight the purpose of architecture and urbanism as well as contributing factors such as socio-economic shifts, evolving cultures and climate change affecting built environment.
The exhibition will be open to the public from Jan 19 to Feb 28. Among some of the projects on exhibition are significant projects in Malaysia such as: the Coronation Square (Johor); SPICE Arena (Penang); Design Village (Penang); Ampang Park (Kuala Lumpur); and Berjaya Central Park (Kuala Lumpur).
These iconic projects have become integral parts of the nation’s cityscape, notably Ampang Park which is the company’s first commissioned project in Malaysia and is also the first shopping mall built in the country.
In addition, both Coronation Square (Johor) and SPICE Arena (Penang) demonstrated sustainable designs amidst fast developing cities in Malaysia that are aesthetically pleasing – with respect to its functional and cultural settings.
The opening ceremony was launched by Dewan Bandaraya Kuala Lumpur (DBKL) executive director Datuk Mohd Najib Mohd, and was witnessed by Singapore’s High Commissioner to Malaysia, H.E Vanu Gopala Menon, and Pertubuhan Akitek Malaysia president Ar. Ezumi Harzani Ismail.
