RESIDENTS in Balik Pulau, Penang, have been told to develop the land that they inherited rather than selling it off.
Teluk Bahang assemblyman Datuk Shah Haedan Ayoob said the land could be developed from an affordable price of RM59,000.
“There have been cases of people getting cheated of more than RM10,000 after they engaged non-accredited contractors.
“It’s important to engage a contractor that can provide the proper documentation.
During the Q&A session, he said, that it would be better if the private contractor company could bring in advisors to explain the land inheritance issue.
Shah Headan emphasised that the session was to create a platform for locals interested in developing their land.
“My service centre’s volunteer lawyers can provide legal services but we won’t be involved in the deals. The matter will be between the land owner and the private developer,” he said.
Earlier, TBR Home Resources director Mohd Faizal Mohd Noor held a presentation about the type of services they offered.
“Once the house owner has settled all the necessary documents, we can finish the project within four to six months,” he said.
Mohd Faizal added the company had built more than 100 units on the Penang mainland and in Kedah as well as three units on the Penang island.
