JLL supporting Hood Disrupt, the region’s first proptech hackathon; more than 70 participants working on tech innovations in areas from financing to construction.

SINGAPORE: With technology playing an ever-greater role in the real estate industry, JLL is supporting the fast developing proptech scene in Asia by sponsoring the region’s first proptech hackathon, Hood Disrupt, happening from 4-6 August, 2017.

Organised by igloohome, a Singapore-based start-up which has created smart access solutions, and District 6, a co-working space located at Odeon Towers, the hackathon will see 75 participants ideating and creating new technologies and solutions for real estate, with a focus on tackling Smart Real Estate and Property Management; Architecture, Engineering & Construction; Agency and Brokerage; Property Financing; and the Sharing Economy.

They will showcase their innovations at a Battle Pitch on the last day of the hackathon to win the grand prize of S$5,000.

Pushing proptech in Asia

Among the participants are teams from leading developers Sansiri from Thailand and Lendlease from Singapore.

They are joined by start-ups such as LePro System Berhad from Malaysia, which provides web and app support for legal and documentation services; Singapore-based Reserv, a platform and marketplace for facility management services with more than a hundred condominiums onboard; Keep, a search engine for storage options set up by two Korean engineers; and Airsquire, offering security services using drones equipped with sensors.
