Renowned hotelier, Hyatt is expanding into the extended-stay hotel concept with the introduction of Hyatt House in Mont Kiara targeted for business and leisure travelers from around Asia.

With their new hotel concept, the company targets to cater to the demands of tourists flocking into Malaysia which has increased steadily for the past few years.

Hyatt House general manager, Bennett Peter said: “I foresee more Asian tourists from China and Korea will choose Malaysia as their destination-country. Looking at the Ministry of Tourism statistic, compared to 2016, in 2017 the numbers of China tourist has increased by 7.5%.

“And I think moving forward, the number will continue to grow as Malaysia maintains its good value for money and safety factors,” ended Bennett.

A relatively new concept in Malaysia, Hyatt House is another expansion of the multi-facet Hyatt brand, which delivers the renowned Hyatt’s mission, ‘to care for people so that they can be their best’.

Essentially, an extended-stay hotel or residential hotel is a serviced apartment complex that uses a hotel-style booking system. It is similar to renting an apartment, but with no fixed contracts and occupants can "check-out" whenever they wish.

“Serving guest with the quality services that Hyatt brand is recognised with, the extended-stay hotel added an extra value by providing guest with a space to call their own, giving a feeling similar to that of their own houses.

“What we are trying to do, is giving them the services that they have come to expect (from a hotel), but in a house setting,” he said.

Explaining why Hyatt House Kuala Lumpur Mont’Kiara is the biggest extended-stay hotel in the world, Bennett pointed out that the building was designed by Foster and Partners, the same company responsible for the design of Apple Park at Cupertino, California and also New Mexico City International Airport.

“Besides the iconic architecture of the building, most of other Hyatt House in the world only has about 120-130 rooms, whereas in Hyatt House Kuala Lumpur we are offering 298 rooms, making us as the biggest one,” said Bennett.

In terms of providing service to customers, Bennett underlined Hyatt’s practices by choosing the right employees to cater to the various demands of the customer.

“In Hyatt House, our employees are called ‘host’. Every host is trained to be familiar with the surrounding, ensuring guest with the best recommendation of the area on what to do, where to eat, and how to move around the place.

“To do that, we trained them for eight weeks, teaching them about soft skills, physical skills, as well as we asked them to familiarise themselves with the area,” he added.
