THE new year calls for a bold move forward and starting a brand new chapter, and Taylor’s College has done just that in every sense of the word.

After almost half a century of service in the local education industry, the college has moved into Taylor’s Education Group’s award-winning university campus – the Taylor’s Lakeside Campus.

The move from the campuses in Subang Jaya and Sri Hartamas is said to further improve the learning environment for students.

They can now benefit from using teaching and learning facilities, including state-of-the-art laboratories, a four-storey library complete with a mini theatre and computer labs.

Taylor’s Education Group chief executive officer Datuk Loy Teik Ngan said the move came at an appropriate time.

“We believe it is necessary to better provide for changing student needs in the midst of an evolving education landscape.

“In a fast-transforming world with digital advances and an ever-changing job market, students are more than ever required to be relevant and future-ready to better serve their community and nation.

“The Lakeside Campus will be an education hub that emphasises holistic experiences while embracing digital transformations in higher education,” he said.

An event was held to mark the relocation as well as to celebrate the college’s legacy of academic excellence.

The Taylor’s College management team and students were transported from the old campus in SS15, Subang Jaya, on 10 Harley-Davidson motorcycles and a double-decker bus.

Loy, together with Taylor’s College campus director Josephine Tan, led the convoy of motorcycles. They were all clad in biker jackets.

The entourage arrived at the Lakeside Campus amid the roars of the bikes, loud cheers and music as well as stunts from a cheerleading squad.

Guests, staff, students and alumni were entertained by upbeat dance performances and later, treated to lunch.

Taylor’s College will continue to offer two flagships pre-university courses, the Cambridge A Level and South Australian Matriculation programmes, with new programmes in the pipeline.

Tan revealed that there would be twinning programmes with Australian-based universities, while professional-based programmes would also be rolled out.

“There’s demand for various programmes from different parts of the world and we want to offer a wholesome and holistic range for students to choose from.

“While the university continues to have dual award programmes with partnering universities overseas, the college can offer students twinning and franchise-model programmes,” she said.

Tan also shared that the June 2017 exam results of the Cambridge A Level saw a 100% passing rate with 30% achieving 4As.

“I am also pleased to share that three out of our 241 high achievers have been accepted by Cambridge while six have been accepted by Oxford University,” she revealed.

Taylor’s College also holds a track record of placing more than 1,000 students in the world’s top 200 universities every year.
