Though any form of green is a good thing in my opinion, you may want to invest a little effort in choosing plants that can match well, but more importantly thrive well in your garden.
Of course, the basics to know are the conditions of your garden, or the space in which you want to place your plants, in terms of sunlight, rain and shade.
Even given these factors, there is still an abundance of plants to choose from.
Tips:
• A key tip that would make things easier on you from the beginning is to choose the right nursery. Choose one that has a professional attendant, and do not ask your questions to just any one who mans the stall or shop.
• Get your advice from someone experienced, preferably the owners or someone passionate about plants to sit down and talk with you, not just to sell you plants. Make your own judgment.
• People always say go to Sungai Buloh (where there’s an abundance of nurseries) to buy plants, but I would recommend you look around your area first.
• It’s better to buy from near your home. A neighbourhood nursery man, one which you can build a good rapport with, is a great friend to make. Not only can he give a more personalised service, such as extra help with the planting or delivery, but the community setting of the business may mean you would not be so easily short-changed.
• The importance of a good nursery is also so that you get the right advice on the plants you like, whether it is suitable, or even necessary.
• The bottom line is to find a professional, reliable and knowledgeable nursery with good after sale service that may be willing to go that extra mile for your plants.
