MOTORISTS who park at the Subang Jaya Municipal Council (MPSJ) multi-storey parking complex in SS15 will be charged for using the facility starting Sept 4.
On weekdays, from 7am to 7pm, the rates will be RM2 per entry and RM1 for consecutive hours, with a maximum charge of RM8 per day.
On weekends, a flat rate of RM2 per entry will be charged.
Regular users can also apply for a reserved parking bay at a monthly fee of RM318.
MPSJ deputy president and acting president Mohd Zulkarnain Che Ali said students could enjoy a special rate if they applied for a monthly access card.
“Students can apply for a monthly access card at RM127 per month inclusive of GST.
“Other users can also get a monthly pass for RM159 per month inclusive of GST,” he said, during the council’s full board meeting yesterday.
Loss of ticket will result in a RM30 charge and owners of clamped cars will have to pay RM80 penalty.
Mohd Zulkarnain added that parking coupons would continue to be used in other areas and new Touch ‘n Go-compliant parking ticket machines would be installed.
“We have a contract with Godell Parking Sdn Bhd until 2022 to provide the parking machines.
“However, we have received many complaints that the machines are not working and unable to dispense tickets.
“Sixty machines need to be repaired in stages.
“From July until now, 11 machines have been repaired.
“In the meantime, we will continue to supply parking coupons while the machines are being repaired.
“By the end of the year, we hope to have the Touch ‘n Go option on the new machines,” he said.
Prior to the full board meeting, the council launched its Kibar Jalur Gemilang campaign. Over 200 flags were distributed to the staff and for all of its official vehicles.
Meanwhile, on the matter of terrace houses being converted into hostels, Mohd Zulkarnain said property owners who did not comply with the guidelines would be penalised in accordance with the Town and Village Planning Act 1976 (Act 172).
“We are aware that more houses are being converted into hostels, especially in PJS 9 and PJS 7.
“The guidelines state that a 153.29 sq m (22x75) house cannot have more than eight rooms or 10 occupants.
“Those who do not follow the guidelines will be fined RM500 per notice issued for overcrowding.
“Those who have carried out illegal renovations can be charged a maximum fine of RM12,500,” he said.
