THE StarProperty.my Fair 2017 in Penang, with a vast selection of leading developments around the country, proved to be a bountiful hunting ground for home buyers and investors.
Engineer Chong Meng Tuck, 40, who had his wife and three children in tow, said he was looking to invest in a landed property.
“We already have a house but have been thinking about investing in another. Since it is a Sunday, we decided to have a day out together and explore the many offers.
“It is nice that the fair is held in a mall as you can check out the properties and do some shopping too,” said Chong when met yesterday.
Businessman M. Mahendran, 45, and his wife A. Ananthanayagi, 42, said they were looking for properties along or near the Tun Dr Lim Chong Eu Expressway.
“We are also considering those in Bayan Baru and Batu Maung,” Mahendran added.
Another engineer, Goh Keat Hoe, 41, was similarly doing some shopping with his wife and children and took the opportunity to see what was available.
He was attracted to the semi-detached homes and bungalows in BDB Land’s Darulaman Perdana township in Sungai Petani, Kedah, where his in-laws live.
“It’s a good location not too far away from Penang. While I’m not looking to buy a home, the size of units and affordable pricing here make it worth keeping in mind for the future,” Goh said.
BDB Land marketing manager Hema Nair said they received a lot of interest throughout the four-day fair which ended yesterday.
“An increasing number of people from Penang are looking at homes in Kedah due to the cheaper prices for landed properties. Plus, it is not too far away.
“Areas like Sungai Petani are also booming, and our Darulaman Perdana, sprawled over 442 acres with a lush and vibrant setting, is an attractive option,” she added.
Ivory Properties Group Bhd senior marketing manager Alan Lim said most visitors were interested in the City Residence due to its prime location.
“Besides being strategically located along the Jalan Tanjung Tokong main road, it is also close to various amenities such as eateries, banks, schools and shopping malls,” he emphasised.
Zeon Properties marketing executive Sharon Khor said the Sentral Suites by Malaysian Resources Corporation Bhd (MRCB) — which they marketed for the fair — was also popular for its strategic location in Kuala Lumpur Sentral.
Large crowds were also seen at the booth of IJM Land, which unveiled its The Light City integrated precinct and Waterside Residence, both located in Phase 2 of its The Light Waterfront Penang mega development.
Most visitors were drawn to the nautical lifestyle and modern retail and entertainment elements these new projects offered.
Also a hit was the new 3 Residence in Karpal Singh Drive, as well as the company’s other existing projects like Trehaus and The Address in Bukit Jambul, and Permatang Sanctuary in Bukit Mertajam.
Many visitors to the fair — organised by Star Media Group — also took the opportunity to sign up or renew their ePaper bundle annual subscriptions, which came with value-added extras and free spins in the Spin & Win Contest.
Also popular was the WAH (Win A Home) campaign, which offers one lucky winner a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to own a one-bedroom serviced suit worth over RM550,000 in PJ Midtown, Section 13, in Petaling Jaya, Selangor.
The campaign runs until Dec 31. Visit http://fair.starproperty.my for more information on upcoming fairs.
