Pitfalls abound in property buying, more so for those who have no reference points to start with or lack experience in the field. A single mistake can be incredibly costly in financial and legal terms. The scarcity of affordable property is also a factor.

Through the book, sought-after property writer, speaker and journalist Khalil Adis hopes to dispel some of the myths and fears surrounding property buying, with a focus on Gen Y and the property market in Malaysia.

The idea behind this book, Property Buying for Gen Y, was born when Khalil did a talk for The StarProperty.my Forum aimed at Gen Ys in August 2015. “At the talk, I noticed there was a strong interest in property among Gen Y but their knowledge was lacking,” he says.

According to him, Gen Y were also concerned about housing affordability. “This was also a recurring feedback at Gen Ys I had met at my talks in Johor, KL, Selangor and Penang.”

Khalil then pitched the idea for a book to help Malaysian Gen Ys navigate the murky waters of the Malaysian property market and get them started on investing in property to help enhance their net worth. This book, published by MPH Group Publishing, was the result.

This book was written in a conversational style, so that Gen Ys feel they are talking to a friend, not merely an expert. Issues are discussed in a fun and interesting way without any jargon and technical language.
