KUCHING: Demand for housing in Sarawak is still outpacing supply despite challenging economic times, the Sarawak Housing and Real Estate Developers Association (Sheda) said ahead of its annual property expo.
The expo’s organising chairman Gary Kho said commercial and residential developments are progressing at a healthy pace in Kuching, offering many options for potential buyers to choose from.
He said condominiums and apartments, which had increased in number over the last few years, were still in demand but experiencing a slowdown in take-up rates.
“However, given the right pricing, apartments should continue to sell fairly well,” he said when launching the sale of booths for the expo.
Kho said the expo was a platform for developers to promote their brand and boost market presence for current and future projects.
“Buyers often prioritise location, type of property and reputation of developers when making a decision.
“Cultivating strong public perception of a developer’s brand will help in securing sales,” he said.
There will be 100 booths in total at the expo, which will take place at Borneo Convention Centre Kuching from July 6 to 8.
Visitors can expect to browse properties from major developers as well as exclusive projects in Sarawak, Sabah and peninsular Malaysia.
There will also be family-friendly activities such as a children’s colouring contest and junior singing competition as well as property talks.
