KLANG: Paramount Property unveiled Berkeley Uptown Klang today, marking the soft launch of its latest offering, a 33-acre mixed integrated development anchored by Sri KDU International School.

The opening of Berkeley Uptown’s Sales Gallery was officiated by Selangor State government senior executive councillor Datuk Teng Chang Khim in a ribbon-cutting ceremony, alongside with Klang City Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCCI) president Tan Sri Datuk Lim Kuang Sia and vice-president Chia Song Kun.

Also present were Paramount Corporation Bhd CEO Jeffrey Chew, Paramount Property COO Wang Chong Hwa, CEO Beh Chun Chong, K-12 CEO Dr Goh Chee Leong and Sri KDU CEO Eugene Yeoh.

“It is this philosophy that leads us to participate in our first Urban Regeneration Project on this part of Klang, by building a modern and vibrant live-work-and-play community anchored by an international school,” he added.

“One of the first things we did after we acquired this piece of land was to engage with the state government as well as with community leaders like our friends in KCCCI, who are championing the Klang City Rejuvenation project,” he said, adding that Paramount shares the community’s aspiration to bring Klang City back to its glory days.

Selangor State government senior executive councillor Datuk Teng Chang Khim said that the Klang town centre is still lacking in quality mixed-used developments, which is still occupied by many old residential gardens, shop lots and factories.

“Therefore, we are extremely pleased that Paramount Property, known for being The People’s Developer, has decided to invest in changing the landscape in Klang.

“As a Group, Paramount is also able to leverage on its expertise as one of the oldest education services providers in the country by bringing in the award-winning Sri KDU International School to Klang,” said Teng, who believed many of Klang’s education-conscious parents will welcome the arrival of a world-class international school right at their door steps.

Paramount Property is kickstarting this project with Phase 1 called Uptown Residences comprising 736 units of freehold residential serviced apartments over 5.17 acres of land. There will be a mixture of units measuring 859 sq ft and 1,093 sq ft as well as limited garden villa units measuring 1,572 sq ft and 1,588 sq ft. Affordable homes from 551 sq ft at prices below RM300,000 will also be offered.

Berkeley Uptown is a freehold development located beside Jalan Goh Hock Huat, bordering the Klang central business district on the west.
