Sunway Property builds holistic township with green-friendly features
MANY aspects come into play when creating a comprehensive township, from location to planning and amenities for the convenience of residents. Sunway Property has achieved this feat with Sunway Iskandar in Johor.
This integrated township, targeted local Johoreans, Malaysians working in Singapore, foreigners, business owners, SME communities and entrepreneurs. It has a holistic environment consisting of landed properties, condominiums, educational institutions, medical hubs, parks, and retail centres that allow communities to live, learn, work and play in a safe and connected environment.
Dubbed Nature’s Capital City, Sunway Iskandar is Sunway Property’s largest township project that spans 1,800 acres of land with a GDV of RM30bil. It is crafted into six precincts: The Capital, The Marketplace, The Parkview, The Lakeview, The Seafront and The Riverside.
To strike a balance between the city and nature, over 40% of the township is dedicated to green space for residents to live in a healthy environment.
For the safety of residents, Sunway Iskandar has a team of 100 auxiliary police and security personnel now – all trained by the Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM). The team’s number will be doubled by 2020.
All within easy reach
Being a part of Medini’s 2,200-acre master plan, Sunway Iskandar benefits from its proximity to major amenities such as Legoland, Gleneagles Hospital, Educity and Pinewood Iskandar Malaysia. Sunway Iskandar itself is also home to various educational and retail centres such as the Sunway International School, Sunway Xpark, Sunway Citrine Hub, and also soon-to-be-opened Sunway GRID, Sunway Big Box Village and Sunway Emerald Boulevard 88.
At only 5km from neighbouring Singapore, Sunway Iskandar residents can commute via the Second Link Bridge. With the newly-opened Coastal Highway Southern Link (CHSL), the township is minutes away from all of the region’s major transportation nodes, namely the Coastal Highway Southern Link, Rapid Transit Link, Senai International Airport, Changi International Airport, Port of Tanjung Pelepas and the Causeway Link Bus.
Commitment to growth
Sunway Property has a unique approach to its community master plan, which is centred on a sustainable business model – build, own and operate – essentially encompassing a full real estate value chain.
With this model, Sunway is able to remain the largest stakeholder (40% ownership) in its townships. This is part of the company’s commitment to the lifelong growth of Sunway community and to recycle capital into the townships for sustainable growth.
Sunway plans to invest in the community by building connectivity, ensuring safety and security, and enhancing environmental sustainability. This will help the townships grow and benefit the residents.
