SUBANG JAYA: Avaland Bhd further solidifies its dedication to community well-being, with the roll-out of a health awareness programme in collaboration with the National Kidney Foundation of Malaysia (NKF) recently.
As part of its programme to elevate its commitment to enhancing community health, Avaland pledged 10 units of vital signs monitoring devices with ECG and Oxygen Saturation (SPO2) monitoring capabilities that will be deployed to all NKF Dialysis Centres in the Klang Valley.
These vital sign monitoring devices will complement the dialysis sessions of patients in the Klang Valley, as they will allow healthcare professionals to identify and address adverse reactions or complications that may arise during the dialysis sessions of patients.
Avaland chief executive officer Apollo Bello Tanco (Pol) said: “We are happy to support NKF in enhancing their dialysis centres with our pledge of these 10 units of vital signs monitoring devices to help maintain patients’ overall stability during their dialysis session throughout the Klang Valley.”
In addition to the pledge of the health monitoring devices to NKF, Avaland will collaborate with the non-profit organisation’s Department of Public Education, to provide comprehensive health assessments, encompassing BMI and blood pressure measurements, cholesterol and glucose screenings and urine
tests, which are vital in addressing prevalent kidney-related health concerns. Private health counselling sessions are also part of the programme.
These community well-being initiatives, featuring health screening at Avaland’s selected sales galleries, have a twofold purpose - to raise health awareness and foster a sense of volunteering and pride among internal stakeholders, particularly employees.
Overall, the programme aims to conduct over 2,000 screenings, commencing with the programme’s first health-screening session that took place over the weekend at the Avaland Gallery @ Bangi which features Avaland's recently unveiled Moroccan-inspired development in the heart of Bangi – Anja Residences and Signature Retail.
In addition to health initiatives, the events will feature engaging activities for children. The enclosed children’s corner is supported by Avaland’s volunteers, to host the children while their parents are being screened, this reflects Avaland’s holistic approach to community engagement.
Commenting on the decision to host a series of health screenings at selected Avaland’s sales galleries, Pol said: “We believe that health screenings play a crucial role in identifying Non-Communicable Diseases (NCDs) early on, enabling timely intervention and management. By offering comprehensive health assessments, together with NKF, we aim to empower individuals to take proactive steps towards maintaining their health and well-being, ultimately contributing to healthier and more resilient communities.”
NKF Malaysia chief executive officer Khor Xin Yun: “We are also glad to have found a partner to support us in educating communities on combating kidney-related diseases and to provide open-door community health screenings, at no cost. NCDs such as diabetes, hypertension, and cardiovascular diseases are often asymptomatic in their initial stages, making regular screenings essential for early detection and prevention.”
