PETALING JAYA: Heart Wood has been unveiled by Dulux as the Colour of the Year for 2018, following continuous expert research into trends, insights and consumer behaviours.
Speaking at the launch, AkzoNobel Decorative Paints, South East & South Asia, Middle East managing director Jeremy Rowe said, “Colour plays a significant role in creating a perfect, comforting environment. As a colour authority, we exist to empower our consumers to make the right colour choices; choices that make them happy and proud of their homes. With the 2018 Colour of the Year and its four contemporary colour palettes, customers around the world can now create spaces within their home that are truly theirs and up to date with their everyday needs.”
According to their research, Heart Wood can be implemented in various colour palettes, each bringing its own unique benefit to consumers’ quality of life.
“A Welcome Home” combines the gentle shades of grey-pink, blues and cocoa flowing into bolder shades of ink blue and purple. Calming and restorative, this colour palette gives a sense of connection between the inside and outside world.
While “The Comforting Home” creates a mentally recharging environment. Warm earth tones permeate the home, bringing together clay and blush pink tones to calm the mind and soothe the senses.
Finally, “The Inviting Home” brings comfort and convenience to life for those seeking to strengthen bonds and bring family and friends together. Cool shades of blue encourage a clear-headed approach to life, while neutrals and fresh green support the need for connection with the outside world. Softer pastel shades are enhanced by coal and ink blue.
Jeremy added that “Colour is a good way to express moods and concepts. Taking the first step to play with colour, you can make use of complementary colours and set a feature wall to accent space. Always start from a small room before extending it into a larger space.”
“The Playful Home” creates a space to be inspired and invigorate the senses. Yellow-toned green and gold help spark the synapses and encourage a creative approach to life. Pops of colour add a sense of fun and energy, while clever use of colour can help create different zones within smaller spaces.
