CONSTRUCTION for a Perumahan Rakyat 1Malaysia (PR1MA) affordable-housing project in Teluk Intan will begin soon.
Teluk Intan MP Datuk Seri Mah Siew Keong said the project located in Changkat Jong has received approval to begin construction.
Mah said the new residential development consisting of 957 single- and double-storey units is scheduled to be completed by 2020.
“Phase one of the project which consist of 523 single-storey units will be up for sale at not more than RM200,000.
“The new residential development’s estimated gross development value is RM523mil,” he told a press conference after visiting the PR1MA housing expo at the Ipoh Convention Centre, last Friday.
Mah said the housing project is adjacent to the Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris campus which is expected to be completed this year.
“The project will also meet the middle-income group’s needs for housing. The presence of a well established university in Teluk Intan, and the growth of the middle-income category in the area are expected to drive greater demand for homes in the area,” he added.
Perbadanan PR1MA Malaysia chief executive officer Datuk Abdul Mutalib Alias said the ground-breaking ceremony for the project is expected to held soon.
He said PR1MA aims to provide the public with quality homes that are fairly priced and suited for their lifestyle and needs.
“More importantly, this new community will help add vibrance to Teluk Intan and contribute to the district’s continuinng socio-economic development.
“To help first-time home buyers with the registration process, information and sales booths were set up during the expo,” he added.
