Bullying Prevention campaign this afternoon – a collaboration by S P Setia and Star Media Group
PETALING JAYA: Star Media Group Bhd, property developer SP Setia Bhd, and various prominent personalities joined forces to launch #StandTogether, a nationwide campaign calling for the first week of April to be designated as an annual Bullying Prevention Week.
The campaign was launched by Her Royal Highness Tengku Datin Paduka Setia Zatashah Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah at Setia International Centre, where celebrities including actress Lisa Surihani and film maker JinnyBoy pledged their support to the campaign.
According to the statement, Tengku Zatashah reminded everyone that the campaign is to promote simple values to all - kindness, empathy and unity.
“It’s important to make a stand and show students facing aggression that they aren’t alone,” said Star Media Group group managing director and chief executive officer Datuk Seri Wong Chun Wai.
“That’s why we’re pleased to be working with S P Setia Bhd to tackle the issue of school violence. Through this collaboration, we hope that schools will soon be a safe space for all children,” he added.
Wong also stressed that violence has never been the answer and victims should tell their parents about their ordeals.
SP Setia Bhd chairman Datuk Seri Wan Mohd Zahid said SP Setia was happy to collaborate with Star Media Group in a joint effort to create more awareness on the prevention of bullying.
“This is an extension of the Setia Caring School Programme which we kicked off in 2015 with the core idea of cultivating a ‘caring society’ but on a much bigger scale,” he said.
The campaign, which will be run by Star’s award-winning R.AGE team, aims to mobilise volunteers (former students, parents, teachers, etc.) to independently organise bullying prevention events or activities in their schools every first week of April.
