A BIG pothole in Taman Cheras Indah in Cheras near the traffic light junction is endangering the lives of motorists.

“The pothole has been there for five months,” said Farul Faizal Mohd Fuzi.

The pothole is situated opposite Restoran Emak Engku & Western Special along Jalan Indah 26, said Farul, adding that many vehicles have suffered damage due to the pothole.

“The situation is especially bad at night.

“A bumper of a car was badly damaged after driving into the pothole,” added Farul.

The restaurant owner placed a chair over the pothole as a temporary solution and to warn motorists but the chair has been removed several times.

“Jalan Indah 26 is a main road that is frequently used by residents,” explained Teratai Gerakan Public Complaints Bureau chief Ben Liew Pok Boon who organised a press conference at the restaurant.

Liew added that complaints were lodged with the Ampang Jaya Municipal Council (MPAJ) and elected representatives for the area but nothing has been done.

He said the road situation was surprising as it was upgraded in February.

“The condition of the road is still very bad as there are several smaller potholes too,” said Liew.
