Ng says smelly sewage would flow out of the toilet in his shop when the sewage pipes outside the premises overflow.

HAVING an overflowing toilet is unbearable even for just one day; so imagine having to endure it for a month.

Furniture supplier Hey Ng has been putting up with this problem for the past month in his shop in Taman Juara Jaya, Seri Kembangan.

“My employees and I cannot use the toilet at all and the stench is unbearable. It is inconvenient for us to use the toilet at my other shop a few doors away.

“As my shop is at the lowest point along the street, smelly sewage would flow out whenever the sewage pipes outside the shop overflow. This has been the worst case so far,” he said.

“I have complained to Indah Water Konsortium (IWK) many times but was always given the runaround,” he said, adding that two of his employees had fallen sick since.

He said IWK finally desludged the sewage pipes on Friday but later that night the problem recurred and Ng had no choice but to seek help from Balakong assemblyman Eddie Ng.

Ng said it was part of the project for the Langat centralised sewage treatment plant near Kampung Simpang Balak, scheduled to be completed in 2018, which aims to reduce ammonia.

“While I applaud the project, IWK and its contractors should do their part in ensuring the sewers are well-maintained during the process.

“If the sewers overflow when it rains, something should be done to fix the problem once and for all,” he said.

They were informed on the day of the press conference that the problem would be fixed on the day itself.

It was reported that MMC Pembetungan Langat Sdn Bhd has taken over the project for the construction of the Langat centralised sewage treatment plant and sewer pipe connection works at the Sungai Langat reservoir.
