A BRAND new Companies Commission of Malaysia (SSM) building will be constructed In Ipoh.
The 10-storey building, expected to be completed by the year 2020, will be SSM’s second building after Menara SSM in Kuala Lumpur.
Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Dr Zambry Abd Kadir and Deputy Domestic Trade, Cooperatives and Consumerism Minister Datuk Henry Sum Agong officiated at the ground-breaking ceremony at Basco Avenue in Ipoh on Tuesday.
In his speech, Henry said as an agency under the ministry, SSM was committed to giving its best services to enhance the country’s economy.
He added that according to the statistics provided by SSM, the number of businesses registered in the country was 1,213,714.
“From the figure, a total of 103,992 business registrations, and a total of 27,533 incorporations are registered in Perak.
“This is a huge figure, and it proves to all of us that despite the slow global economic situation, we are still able to maintain registrations of big businesses and incorporations,” he said.
Henry said he believed that the completion of the building on a 7ha land would benefit entrepreneurs in the state.
He added that it would also encourage future entrepreneurs to register their businesses with SSM.
“I urge all entrepreneurs to register their businesses to protect the rights of consumers.
“Action can be taken against the owner and the business if cheating occurs,” he added.
