IJM Land Berhad and Amona Development Sdn Bhd Commence Construction of
RM52 million Pantai Sentral Park Interchange connecting the New Pantai Expressway
Kuala Lumpur, 13 October 2016- IJM Corporation Berhad’s property development arm IJM Land Berhad (“IJM Land”) and its joint-venture partner, Amona Development Sdn Bhd, today broke ground for the construction of the 2.8 km Pantai Sentral Park Interchange that will link the 58-acre Pantai Sentral Park mixed-use development and the Pantai Dalam/Kerinchi area to the New Pantai Expressway (NPE). It will be constructed at an estimated cost of RM52 million over 18 months.
Held at the ICE Gallery at Pantai Sentral Park, the groundbreaking ceremony was officiated by the Federal Territories Minister, YB Datuk Seri Utama Tengku Adnan bin Tengku Mansor in the presence of the Former Minister of Federal Territories and Urban Well-being, YM Datuk Seri Utama Raja Nong Chik bin Dato’ Raja Zainal Abidin, Federal Territories Chief Secretary, Datuk Seri Adnan bin Hj. Mohd Ikshan, the Mayor of Kuala Lumpur, Datuk Seri Hj. Mohd Amin Nordin bin Abdul Aziz, IJM Corporation Berhad’s Chairman, Tan Sri Abdul Halim bin Ali, IJM Corporation Berhad’s Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director, Dato’ Soam Heng Choon, Amona Group of Companies Executive Director, Tuan Haji Abdul Manaf and Amona Group of Companies Chief Operating Officer, Che Hasnadi Che Hassan.
The new interchange will create direct access to the NPE, and connect the mixed-use development, consisting of 7 residential phases and 6 commercial phases, to the mature commercial, retail and residential enclaves of Petaling Jaya, Kuala Lumpur, Bangsar and Mid Valley City. Upon completion, the interchange will position Pantai Sentral Park as one of KL’s most desirable addresses for residences and businesses, due to its strategic location in the heart of the new Golden Triangle that connects Kuala Lumpur, Bangsar and Petaling Jaya.
“The spill over effects from this new interchange will include bringing about better socio-economic benefits to the local communities and facilitating even greater access to the nearby areas and beyond,” said Datuk Seri Utama Tengku Adnan. “Naturally, this initiative benefits those who live and work in the area and neighbouring communities, and complements the development of the respective precincts and their vicinities. The project will help direct some of the traffic away from the existing roads, and vastly improve accessibility to local businesses and connectivity for pedestrians. Pantai Sentral Park’s strategic location and easy access will contribute towards sustaining KL city’s competitiveness. Congratulations IJM Land and Amona for having the vision, courage and commitment to spark Kuala Lumpur’s growth and future.”
Touching on the construction of the interchange, Tan Sri Abdul Halim said, “This new interchange is a holistic and far-sighted strategy for the future, not only improving traffic flow in the vicinity of IJM Land and Amona’s Pantai Sentral Park mixed development project, but also creating development prospects for the area. These values have constantly guided our approach to sustainable development, which enables us to take into account future development needs through an integrated planning process. These exciting developments will add to the many complementary businesses in this corridor.”
Also speaking at the ceremony was, Che Hasnadi Che Hassan, who said, “As part of our commitment towards community betterment, much consideration was put into meeting the traffic demand generated by the development. The interchange is part of the wider strategic development for sustainable economic growth and future development, and will help to better facilitate traffic flow in the Pantai Dalam/ Kerinchi areas. Future residents of Pantai Sentral Park and road users will stand to benefit from easier journeys through the new direct access. Ensuring that our customers can conveniently travel in and out of the precinct was a key consideration in planning. When completed in February 2018, the dedicated access points will provide thousands of road users and commuters a more direct access to and from the NPE, thereby redistributing some of the traffic flow from the existing access points and encouraging smooth traffic flow when entering and exiting the development and area.”
Apart from the new interchange, the Pantai Sentral Park development is also accessible from a network of major roads and highways such as the NPE, the Federal Highway, the Kerinchi Link on the SPRINT Highway, Lebuhraya Damansara Puchong (LDP Highway), MEX (Maju Expressway), Jalan Kerinchi, Jalan Gasing, Jalan Pantai Dalam and Jalan Templer.
IJM Land and Amona Development Sdn Bhd are in the midst of developing Pantai Sentral Park with a gross development value (GDV) of RM2.5 billion. The development has been envisioned as the catalyst to create a next generation township that truly embraces the core values of ‘People, Planet, Priority’, by nurturing a vibrant and conscientious community, and a nature-inspired hub, to form a greater whole.
Pantai Sentral Park will take green living to the next paradigm, seamlessly blending architecture with nature whilst focusing on meeting the lifestyle needs and wants of its residents who will enjoy the unique experience of living next to a forest while remaining closely connected to the city.
