Settlers and their families having a closer look at a scale model of the Laman Haris homes that EcoWorld will build for them.
A TOTAL OF 987 settlers under “Rancangan Revolusi Hijau Peringkat II dan III” (Green Revolution Plan, Stages II and III) received their certificates of entitlement during a ceremony at Eco Grandeur, Bandar Puncak Alam, Kuala Selangor.
Eco Grandeur developer EcoWorld was brought in as the white knight to deliver what was promised to the settlers, after the previous developers were unable to deliver and build houses the settlers had signed for 17 years ago.
Under the programme, EcoWorld will build 987 units of two-storey terraced houses in Laman Haris, located on a 32-ha plot of land in Eco Grandeur.
Each settler will receive a house worth RM400,000, with a built-up size of 163sqm.
According to EcoWorld, the total construction cost for the 987 houses is RM246.7mil.
Selangor Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali, who presented the certificates to the settlers, said they would also be getting RM44mil in cash compensation in addition to the homes.
“Once the necessary approvals are received, the 987 homes in Laman Haris will be completed within two years, complete with the necessary infrastructure and security features,” promised Eco World Development Group Bhd president and chief executive officer Datuk Chang Khim Wah.
“One element that is unique to Eco Grandeur is that approximately 20% of green space has been allocated within the development, which is three times more than what is usually required for such a project.
“We hope Eco Grandeur will be a commercial centre that would attract people to invest in Ijok and Kuala Selangor,” said Chang, adding that EcoWorld planned to submit an application to build an interchange to the Latar Highway for better connectivity.
Azmin also expressed hope that Eco Grandeur’s strategic location would function as a catalyst to further develop the area and serve as a centre for economic growth for Kuala Selangor.
“This programme’s success marks a positive synergy between the state government and developer. We are happy that a developer with a good track record like EcoWorld is willing to step in and resolve the settlers’ abandoned houses and land ownership issues.
“To facilitate the resolution, I had also ordered Mentri Besar Incorporated (MBI) to rescind all legal proceedings when the case was earlier brought to court,” he said.
Present during the ceremony were Eco World Development Group Bhd executive director Datuk Voon Tin Yow, Eco World Development Group Bhd chief operating officer Datuk Sundarajoo Somu, Kuala Selangor district officer Shamsul Shahril Badliza Mohd Noor, Kuala Selangor District Council president Noraini Roslan and Selangor Housing and Real Property Board executive director Norzaton Aini Mohd Kassim.
Eco Grandeur is the newest township development for EcoWorld in the Klang Valley.
It is a 567-ha leasehold project that will be developed in tandem with Eco Business Park V, EcoWorld’s first gated and guarded green business park in the Klang Valley.
The combined gross development value of both projects is RM15bil.
