PETALING JAYA: AS part of its corporate social responsibility program to enhance green spaces in Klang Valley, Naza TTDI will manage the RM20mil Metropolis Park at KL Metropolis over a duration of 15 years under the Greener KL Initiative.
Federal Territories Minister Datuk Seri Tengku Adnan bin Tengku Mansor expressed his gratitude towards Naza TTDI for its assistance in building a city that is more conducive to live in for the people of Kuala Lumpur.
“The government is encouraging the private sector to come in and assist the government in building more parks that meet the needs of the people,” said Adnan, adding that reducing carbon-emission is a subject of great importance for the government.
In addition, he hoped to see Kuala Lumpur become one of the top five most visited cities in the world.
Naza TTDI deputy executive chairman, group managing director SM Faliq SM Nasimuddin and Kuala Lumpur Mayor Datuk Seri Mohd Amin Nordin Abdul Aziz graced the ground-breaking ceremony of Metropolis Park at Malaysia International Trade and Exhibition Centre (MITEC) today.
“The Metropolis Park is Naza TTDI’s proactive support for the Greener KL Initiative. This urban park will be the green lung of KL Metropolis as it serves as a transition and connects MITEC with MET 3,” explained SM Faliq.
The natural lush Metropolis Park has a 27,000 sq ft information centre and community hall with rooftop lawn.
Residents and visitors will be spoilt for choice when it comes to outdoor activities.
The five-acre park includes an amphitheatre, sculpture park, kinetic fitness stations, one-km jogging path, dry and wet playground, picnic mound, terrace garden and event lawn, proving that a metropolis can be a home for business activities, while still maintaining the green agenda.
Metropolis Park is next to the MITEC, the first component of the total 75.5-acre KL Metropolis and Malaysia’s largest exhibition space.
Apart from MITEC, KL Metropolis is divided into eight precincts, namely MET 1, MET 2, MET 3, MET 5, MET 6, MET 7, MET 8 and MET 9. MET 3, a 15-acre component of mixed developments with a gross development value (GDV) of RM8.5bil, is slated to include a 5-star hotel, grade A office towers, luxury residences, a two-million-sq-ft lifestyle mall and a 100-storey Naza signature tower.
KL Metropolis was launched on Oct 2011 with three strategic joint ventures to date. Naza TTDI has collaborated with Nusmetro Property Sdn Bhd for the development of 3.29 acres, with three towers consisting of serviced suites, serviced residences and managed residences.
The targeted completion date for the towers is by year 2019.
