KUALA LUMPUR: The Malaysian Institute of Interior Designers (MIID), in acknowledging past interior designers’ contributions and encouraging the new ones to excel, has commemorated their 10th anniversary with a book.
Unveiling the book entitled Decade of Design at the Setia International Centre in KL Eco City, MIID deputy president Ooi Boon Seong said it depicts the challenges faced in elevating the interior design profession.
It explains the remarkable transformation of design ideas and projects from the past to the present, as well as the role MIID has played, he said.
The journey of the institute involves past council members and presidents who have paved the way for the next generation of interior designers and guided MIID members to excel in their craft through friendly competitions like the REKA Awards.
“These people have helped to transform the interior design profession to where we are today, and it’s an honour to celebrate the journey by cementing them to a book entitled Decade of Design,” said Ooi.
He explained that the significance of the book was to provide readers with a glimpse into their journey. Furthermore, the book allows members to feel proud of MIID’s accomplishments while allowing others to see the evolution of the interior design industry over the last ten years.
The 292-page book also illustrates the REKA Gold and Silver categories, member profiles and directory, MIID’s formation and milestones as well as an infographic on the process of becoming an interior designer.
The book, which has a retail price of RM125 for MIID members and RM175 for non-members, is made available at selected book store outlets or via MIID.
