Calling for entries for the Special Awards
The Malaysia Developer Awards 2024, one of the nation's most prestigious property accolades, is now accepting submissions from property developers across Malaysia. This event celebrates excellence and innovation in the property industry, acknowledging outstanding achievements and contributions to Malaysia's built environment.
Jointly organised by Star Media Group and FIABCI-Malaysia, the Malaysia Developer Awards (MDA) are open for submissions in several Special Awards categories: International Awards, Joint Development Awards, Rising Star Awards and Transformation Awards. Developers, both large and small, who have made significant contributions to Malaysia's property industry through exceptional projects, designs, and innovations, are encouraged to participate.
- International Awards: Recognising developers who have successfully penetrated markets beyond their home country, introducing new ideas and concepts that inspire their peers.
- Joint Development Awards: Celebrating developers who have collaborated and combined their expertise to leverage each other’s capabilities in developing properties. Typically, this involves joint ventures (JVs) between two or more Malaysian developers, but it can also include partnerships between Malaysian and foreign developers, provided a consortium is formed for the project.
- Transformation Awards: Celebrating developers who have undertaken transformative projects, from rescuing abandoned properties to rejuvenating old, dilapidated buildings or converting disused land into significant developments.
- Rising Star Awards: Highlighting new and emerging developers who have recently entered the industry but have distinguished themselves through their potential and innovative approaches.
Submission details
To participate in the Malaysia Developer Awards 2024, property developers must submit their entries online before the deadline on July 312, 2024. The MDA 2024 submission kit can be downloaded from the Malaysia Developer Awards website.
Entries will be evaluated by a panel of industry leaders and professionals. Developers are encouraged to showcase their innovative and exceptional projects and designs to compete for these esteemed awards.
Top-of-the-Charts Awards
Invitations for the Top-of-the-Charts Awards will be sent to eligible property developers starting June 15, 2024. This award is divided into two categories based on market capitalisation: Companies with RM1bil and above and those with below RM1bil. The revamped criteria now place equal weight on both quantitative and qualitative attributes, with a significant emphasis on ESG considerations.
Revamping assessment criteria
This year, the Top-of-the-Charts assessment will be undergoing several changes to further streamline and enhance the credentials of the awards. The criteria includes a balanced emphasis on both quantitative and qualitative attributes, with a stronger focus on environmental, social and governance (ESG) factors, including sustainable development goals (SDGs) and carbon-free footprints.
