KUALA LUMPUR: The Annual Tax Symposium under the Malaysia Budget Forum is scheduled to be held online on Nov 23 & 24, 2020.
The business-focused virtual event will see 12 speakers and panellists cover matters related to Budget 2021 as well as opportunities for businesses and stakeholders in the property industry.
The session will begin with a brief commentary on the key highlights of Budget 2021.
Subsequently, the topic Moving Into 2021 with Budget 2021 is covered with a roundtable discussion on the Budget’s impact on SME’s.
Datuk Idris Jala, chairman and president of Pemandu Associates, believes the pertinent question in the minds of business owners is what the Budget means to SME's.
"How should you and I take advantage of the programmes and initiatives in place?
"More importantly, how do you start the process of transformation in your own organisation so that it remains healthy and relevant to weather the pandemic in 2020 and 2021?, " he added, regarding topics to be discussed by his fellow panellist.
“We will touch on Budget and policy for sure but we are not here to talk about whether the Budget is good or bad.
“We want to focus on how do we move forward with whatever is on the table and what are the things we can do,” said Agnes Wong, managing partner of Syarikat Ong.
The next roundtable discussion tackles hidden opportunities in the property sector as panellist discuss the impact on the property sector.
According to Wong, panellist would also discuss the relevance of current residential and commercial property types especially in lieu of the pandemic, e-commerce and urban farming trends.
The final session held on day two will address the latest developments in tax compliance, audit and investigation.
CPE or CPD points are claimable via the Malaysian Institute of Accountants (MIA) and the Malaysian Institute of Estate Agents (MIEA) respectively for accountants and real estate agents/ negotiators alike.
The symposium is organised by Syarikat Ong, Pemandu Associates and the MM2H Club Hong Kong with StarProperty serving as a supporting partner.
Net proceeds from the event will be donated to the National Autism Society of Malaysia (NASOM).
