KUALA LUMPUR: Mah Sing Group Bhd’s Summit Park added another feather to their cap when it won an award in the Environmental Category at FIABCI Malaysia's Malaysia Property Award 2023 gala night last Saturday.

Located in Southville City, Bangi, Summit Park is a 9.62-acre public park and playground certified by the Playground Safety Association of Malaysia (PSAM).

“We are truly honoured to receive this prestigious award for Summit Park. This remarkable milestone reaffirms our commitment to creating a sustainable and vibrant living environment that contributes positively to the community. With an investment of RM11.5 million, Summit Park reflects Mah Sing’s dedication to innovation, environmental conservation and sustainable development practices,” Mah Sing property subsidiaries chief executive officer Benjamin Ong said.

“It was meticulously designed to incorporate sustainable concepts, including water conservation, use of native plants, improvement of soil health, and the promotion of ecological balance within the existing environment. Southville City is not just a living space, it is a neighbourhood that promotes a greener, healthier and more sustainable way of life,” Ong added.

There are 1,400 trees and 26 species in Summit Park, including nitrogen-fixing trees, 15 native forest species, and six avian-friendly species. These were selected to promote biodiversity, reduce the need for water and maintenance, and create essential habitats for local wildlife.

Additionally, the development has features aimed at assisting users with visual impairments.

The project would be replicated and implemented in future Mah Sing developments such as the upcoming M Legasi in Semenyih, Ong said.

With an estimated gross development value (GDV) of RM11bil, Southville City is expected to be completed over the next 10 to 12 years.

Its recent developments include Avens Residence, Savanna Executive Suites, Savanna Boulevard Shops, Sensory Residence and Cerrado Residence, with the newest phase of Sensory Residence targeted for vacant possession in the first quarter of 2024.

FIABCI honorary president Datuk Alan Tong Kok Mau, FIABCI honorary advisor Dr Yu Kee Su and FIABCI president Datuk Sr Firdaus bin Musa were present at the award ceremony.
