KUALA LUMPUR: Mah Sing Group Bhd (Mah Sing) has once again been honoured with the Company of the Year for Distinguished Community Engagement Award under the property development category at the Sustainability and CSR Malaysia Awards 2023.

Mah Sing strategic communication, sustainability and corporate responsibility head Lyanna Tew received the award from Women, Family and Community Development Minister Datuk Seri Nancy Shukri who officiated at the award ceremony held at Mandarin Oriental Hotel, Kuala Lumpur.

CSR Malaysia chairman Datuk R Rajendran and CSR Malaysia co-chairman Lee Seng Chee were on hand to witness the ceremony. Recognised by a panel of esteemed judges representing corporate and social bodies, Mah Sing has been consistently implementing meaningful corporate responsibility initiatives that have made a tangible and sustainable impact on the lives of children and local communities.

The group’s dedication to engaging in sustainability efforts in pursuit of a better Malaysia also contributed to its recognition as one of the recipients of this prestigious award.

Mah Sing founder and group managing director Tan Sri Leong Hoy Kum said: "We are tremendously proud that our CSR and sustainability efforts have been recognised for four years in a row. This recognition serves as a testament to our commitment and dedication to uplifting the underserved communities and breaking the poverty cycle. It motivates us to continue driving impactful initiatives and maintaining the highest standards of ESG in our supply chain.

"Moving forward, we will focus on creating greater impact through CSR collaborations and green innovation in our property and manufacturing businesses. This marks the program’s second edition, building on the success of its previous implementation at PPR Seri Alam from 2020 to 2022, which saw 90% of the participants experience an increase in their monthly income, with 35% of them doubling their income.

Furthermore, Mah Sing's employees actively participated in community service through the M'Power volunteer platform, with a total of 323 volunteering hours logged across three initiatives in 2022. Notably, employees from Ramada by Wyndham Meridin Johor Bahru raised RM12,000 through the Blanket of Hope project, providing 80 patchwork blankets to nearly 100 children and individuals with disabilities. Mah Sing continues to run programs aimed at uplifting the lives of the B40 communities residing in Program Perumahan Rakyat (PPR) homes, with a focus on education, health and wellbeing, and community development.
