SHAH ALAM:  Property developer veteran Datuk Seri Koe Peng Kang has been appointed as the new president of the World Council of Developers and Investors of FIABCI, the International Real Estate Federation for a one-year term.

"I am honoured to assume the role of President of the World Council of Developers and Investors of FIABCI International Real Estate Federation. My mission is to foster collaboration and create opportunities for developers and investors across borders. Together, we can unlock the true potential of the global real estate market," said Koe, who is also the immediate past FIABCI-Malaysia president.

Represented by 47 chapters across all continents, FIABCI has more than 100 principal members (national associations), 2,300 regular members in over 70 countries and over one million associate members worldwide.

In his new role, Koe aspires to connect international developers and investors and unlock the potential for cross-border partnerships and collaborations. He envisions establishing a wide network beyond borders, fostering growth and innovation in the real estate industry.

Koe brings a distinguished career spanning over three decades, with a wealth of experience in civil engineering, construction, infrastructure works, and property development. After serving IOI property as a project manager, he joined SP Setia Bhd in 1997 and advanced rapidly through various business and operational roles. After holding various key positions in the group, Koe rose to the role of group chief operating officer, which he eventually retired from in 2022.

Furthermore, Koe held regional responsibilities over the group's international projects in Vietnam, UK, China and Japan. He served on the board of directors for the G2G China Malaysia Qinzhou Industrial Park and oversaw SP Setia's venture in Japan, Setia Izumisano City Centre in Osaka. He was also appointed as the chairman of the Tender and Award Committee for Battersea Power Station, London.
