KUALA LUMPUR: KL Midtown Sdn Bhd recently held its topping-out ceremony of the Hyatt Regency Kuala Lumpur hotel tower, celebrating the 70:30 joint mixed-development project by Hap Seng Land and TTDI KL Metropolis.

KL Midtown comprises 8.95 acres and includes the Hyatt Regency Kuala Lumpur hotel tower, office towers, residential towers and a retail mall.

The Hyatt Regency Kuala Lumpur, designed by Japanese architect Kengo Kuma, will incorporate elements of Malaysian heritage and modern elegance.

“Our partnership with the Hyatt Group stands as a testament to our commitment to excellence in hospitality. The Hyatt Regency Kuala Lumpur at KL Midtown will be the second jewel in our crown, following the success of our first venture, Hyatt Centric Kota Kinabalu,” Hap Seng Consolidated Berhad chairman Thomas Rapp said.

KL Midtown would also feature a vertically planted green wall on its office towers with each tower having a total gross floor area of 150,000 sq ft per wing, Rapp added.

“With construction commencing in December 2021, the topping-out celebration is a significant milestone as it marks a 2-year-plus completion to the highest point of the building’s superstructure. Work is now underway for the interior fit-out for 306 hotel keys, 104 units of service suites, a lobby, a spacious grand ballroom, event venues and two specialty restaurants, which the internationally renowned Hyatt Regency will manage,” KL Midtown director David Khor said.

The development has received a provisional GreenRE gold certification and the retail space is expected to be anchored by AEON.

Hyatt Group senior vice president operations Andrew Mensforth, SA Architects Sdn Bhd managing director Low Mun Wai, Hap Seng Land Sdn Bhd property management director Mandred Weber, Infra Segi Sdn Bhd managing director Lum Chee Kin, as well as KL Midtown Sdn Bhd directors Datuk Edward Lee, Faliq Nasimuddin and David Khor Soo Beng were present at the topping-out ceremony.
