Mutiara Damansara,  6th March 2017 –IPC Shopping Centre will be undergoing a centre-wide facelift and upgrade in 2017. For the last 14 years, it has been home to a variety of businesses, most notably IKEA - the Swedish home furnishing giant.

The time is now ripe for a season of renewal and growth to meet the constantly changing needs, tastes and lifestyles of its customers. Regular visitors will have already noticed that much of the LG and G floors have been enveloped in hoardings - signs of the first phase of progression.

“This redevelopment is no small task, but we’re thrilled that the time to realise these exciting plans has finally come,” said Thomas Malmberg, shopping centre director at IKEA Southeast Asia.

To keep in step with the changing needs of the surrounding community, the centre intends to increase the number and variety of F&B options, offer new sports outlets, and bring in new fashion retailers.

There will be an exciting new outdoor, alfresco dining area where patrons can enjoy a refreshed range of enticing food offerings. With these changes, the centre will continue to concentrate its efforts to implement family-friendly and sustainable features and practices for the community.

“We care very much about the customer journey of our shoppers. This upgrade will not only include a relocation of the tenants that will remain with us but also the addition of fresh, attractive new tenants to diversify the mix of our centre’s offerings,” added Malmberg.

As part of Ikano’s long-term strategy and commitment to sustainability, the IPC Shopping Centre redevelopment will also incorporate green building accreditations under the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) for Existing Buildings & Operations (EBOM) and Malaysia’s own Green Building Index (GBI).

“During this time, we’re asking for our customers to be patient with us. We understand that the centre won’t feel the same during the transition, but these growing pains will enable our centre to flourish and grow with our customers,” said Malmberg.

“We will remain open throughout the redevelopment, with added exclusive sales and promotions. We know our centre is frequented by many young families as well as older shoppers, so we would like to assure our customers that we have taken an inordinate number of precautions to ensure everyone’s safety during this time,” he continued.

The grand reopening is set to be at the end of 2017 - just in time to celebrate the mall’s 15th year as part of the community. In the meantime, shoppers can continue to look forward to activities and offerings at IPC Shopping Centre.

This time of redevelopment and rejuvenation will be bolstered by the likes of food trucks, presentations, and engaging events. Though changes are in the works, there is no end to the fun for all at IPC Shopping Centre.
