PETALING JAYA: IOI Properties Group Bhd (IOIPG) has launched the Bangi Fresco retail hub spanning 12.3 acres and 100,000 sq ft of retail space at Bandar Puteri Bangi.
Bangi Fresco comprises 24 shops, five waterfront food and beverage (F&B) outlets, al fresco dining spaces, four drive-through outlets and a 19,000 sq ft grocery operator. It also features lifestyle components including a 10,000 sq ft event hall and a sports centre.
“Following in the footsteps of our successful Sierra Fresco street mall in 16 Sierra, Puchong South, Bangi Fresco reinforces IOIPG’s holistic development approach in Bandar Puteri Bangi. Catering for the township’s growing population and surrounding communities with a comprehensive range of retail and lifestyle offerings, the retail hub will be owned by the group and managed by our award-winning leasing team,” said group chief operating officer Teh Chin Guan.
Teh added that the group has identified demand for upscale dining and retail in planning for Bangi Fresco.
“We address this through a curated street mall experience, investing more than RM30 million into covered open-air retail spaces promoting natural lighting, ventilation, walkability and flow. We put in picturesque dining bungalows fronting a beautified manmade lake, with a gradient introduced to the landscaping to maximise main road visibility. While still in the discussion phase, we are targeting an upmarket grocer, lifestyle gym and event space operator to anchor our tenant mix, with full occupancy targeted by completion,” he said.
Scheduled for completion by Q3 2026, Bangi Fresco is located next to IOI Galleria @ Bandar Puteri Bangi off the main Jalan Mahkota 1 thoroughfare, with multiple access points from surrounding roads such as Laman Puteri 1, Laman Puteri 2 and Persiaran Mahkota 1.
“As part of Bandar Puteri Bangi, Bangi Fresco will leverage on the township’s strategic location just 30mins from Kuala Lumpur. Sited off the Putra Mahkota Interchange on the North-South Expressway but offset from the bustle of traffic, it features accessibility to major routes such as the Kajang-Seremban Highway, South Klang Valley Expressway and Jalan Bangi Lama, serving surrounding communities in established neighbourhoods throughout Nilai, Semenyih and more. This connectivity drives growth and business expansion as development trends southwards from the city centre,” Teh added.
Also present were group sales, marketing and branding head Nicole Lee, general manager for Bangi and Sepang Wong Peen Fook and IOI City Mall head of leasing Aileen Goh.
