Social media and messaging networks went abuzz this evening with circulating messages advising the public to stay away from Mid Valley City, the Federal Highway and Jalan Bangsar because of the collapse of a pedestrian link in the vicinity.
A reliable source confirmed that an incident had occurred at the Abdullah Hukum project site. Approximately 3.30pm, the pedestrian link to Mid Valley, which is still under construction, gave way.
Fire and Rescue Services, police and medical services, together with the Department of Occupational Safety and Health were immediately notified of the incident.
The project team is still assessing the situation and is working closely with the relevant authorities. The number of casualties is still being determined. As of the statement release time, one worker died. The team is unable to provide further details as investigations are ongoing.
