OWNERS of the newly-opened Villa Crystal condominium are concerned about illegal parking along Jalan 18/38A, Taman Sri Sinar, Kuala Lumpur.

There are five high-rise residences along the road: Villa Crystal, Scenaria, Nilam Apartments, Prima Tiara 1 and 2 and Bukit Segambut Apartments and many occupants park there illegally.

Villa Crystal unit owner Frankie Cheah, 52, said he and his family would move there by the end of the year.

“We got our keys two months ago and there are already a lot of cars parked outside.

“Once Villa Crystal and Scenaria are fully occupied, there will be more cars along the road,” he said.

Cheah also urged Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) to instal more streetlights to deter thieves.

“We have heard of cars parked along the road being broken into at night,” he said.

Deric Teh, 40, who also bought a unit at Villa Crystal, said after 6pm, the road would be filled with cars.

“Every owner here has a minimum of two parking bays but the older condominiums usually have only one,” he said.

Segambut MP Lim Lip Eng, who called for the press conference, said he had also received complaints from residents of Prima Tiara 1 and 2 about the issue.

“I wrote to DBKL to provide proper parking spaces and offer other solutions but I have not received any reply.

“This will be one of the busiest roads in Segambut as those living in Sri Damansara and Sungai Buloh use it to get to Sri Hartamas and Jalan Duta,” he said.

Lim added that DBKL should consider widening the road and installing speed bumps to prevent road users from speeding.

DBKL Project Management executive director Datuk Mahadi Che Ngah said they would study the matter.

“We will conduct a site visit soon,” he said.

Since the press conference, a total of 12 streetlights have been installed along the road.
