MELAKA: The state government is determined to complete 24,355 units of affordable houses to help those in the lower and middle-income group own homes, said Chief Minister Datuk Seri Idris Haron.
He said 9,784 units of affordable homes had been built by private developers, the state and Federal Government owned housing boards since 2013.
“Housing is the main agenda in the government’s effort to ensure the well-being of its people.
“The state has been also working endlessly to see the younger population own homes,” he said after opening the Bumiputera Housing and Real Estate Expo 2017 here.
The expo at Mahkota Parade here involved 19 developers, including the Melaka Housing Board which is offering 1,944 commercial and housing units valued at more than RM835mil.
Idris said the property market in Melaka would also boom with the High Speed Rail service from Kuala Lumpur to Singapore passing through the state.
